Assalaamu `Aalaykum Rahmatullaahi wa Barakatuhu
May the Mercy and Blessings of the Source of Peace be Upon You
We arrive at another Eid. Eid ul-Adha Mubarak 1440.
They ask you (O Muhammad [PBUH]) what they should spend. Say: “Whatever you spend of good must be for parents and kindred and orphans and Al-Masaakeen (the poor) and the wayfarer, and whatever you do of good deeds, truly, Allaah knows it well.” Translation of the Holy Qur’an 2:215
The above verse reminds us to spend a portion of our wealth on our parents, relatives, orphans, including the poor. At the same time, the passage contains lessons. For example, when performing charitable acts, there should be humility in our conduct. Because at the heart of it all, recipients of our righteous deeds, deserve their dignity. Additionally, there is another counsel. And, that advice prompts us to perform our acts solely for the Sake of Allaah, God Almighty. Reason being, Our Lord witnesses all our actions, hears our words, plus knows our every thought. Therefore, He can discern the intention behind every act.
