So, when the Qur’an is recited, listen to it, and be silent that you may receive mercy [i.e. during the compulsory congregational prayers when the Imaan (of a mosque) is leading the prayer (except Surat Al-Faatihah), and also when he is delivering Friday prayer Khutbah]. O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allaah, He will grant you Furqaan [(a criterion to judge between right and wrong), or (Makhraj, i.e. a way for you to get out from every difficulty)], and will expiate for you your sins, and forgive you; and Allaah is the Owner of the great bounty. And if anyone of the Mushrikoun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah) seeks your protection then grant him protection so that he may hear the Word of Allaah (the Qur’an) and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not.
